This is Chinkungunya Fevor Problem & Solution in Bangla application 2017.

★ Symptoms of chikungunya

►► WHO said if one has been infected with it, he or she would suffer from acute fever that causes severe joint pain, muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue and rash.

The joint pain is often very acute and the pain usually lasts for a few days. It may be prolonged to weeks or months or even years in some cases.

Patients should be very careful about this as the virus can cause acute, sub-acute or chronic disease, later on.

The disease shares some clinical signs with dengue and zika.



★ Nothing to be worried about

►► According to the WHO, though in some cases joint pain can persist for several months or even years, most patients recover fully.

Serious complications are not common. The disease can be a cause of death only for older people.

"But anyone infected with the virus, won't forget the suffering."

★ Transmission of chikungunya

►► WHO said the virus is transmitted from human to human by the bites of infected female mosquitoes. 

Mostly two species of the mosquitoes -- Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus -- are responsible for the outbreak of the viral diseases.

It can also transmit other mosquito-borne viruses, including dengue.

★ When the mosquitoes appear most

► The mosquitoes can be found biting throughout daylight hours. It can also been seen stinging in the early morning and late afternoon.

Also, both species are found biting outdoors when only Aedes aegypti will feed indoors.

★ How it can be diagnosed

Several methods can be used for diagnosis.

► Various serological tests, including Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), can detect the presence of chikungunya.

★ Treatment of chikungunya

► WHO said there is no specific antiviral drug treatment for chikungunya. Treatment is directed primarily at relieving the symptoms.

One thing should be kept in mind that there is no commercial chikungunya vaccine available at the medicine outlets.

★ How to prevent chikungunya?

► WHO said proximity of mosquito breeding sites to human habitation carries a significant risk for chikungunya breakout.

Cleaning natural and artificial water-filled containers could be the preliminary solution to this menace. Abandoned water-filled containers help breeding of the mosquitoes.

Spraying insecticides in the possible breeding place of the mosquitoes kills immature larvae.
